Nancy Drew... Reporter (1939)July 25th, While participating in a contest at a local newspaper in which school children are asked to submit a news story, local attorney Carson Drew's daughter Nancy intercepts a real story assignment. She "covers" the inquest of the death of a woman who was poisoned. Nancy doesn't think the young woman accused of the crime is guilty and corrals her neighbor Ted into searching for a vital piece of evidence, and they stumble onto the identity of the real killer.

A classic "B" movie from 70 years ago will bring back one of American girls' favorite heroes at the Apollo Theater Saturday July 25, when Nancy Drew ... Reporter headlines a Ladies Night with free admission to women.

Nancy Drew has been mentioned as an influence by accomplished women ranging from former First Lady Laura Bush and Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. A teenage amateur detective in hundreds of adventure books, movies and TV shows since 1930, Nancy Drew has been played by Pamela Sue Martin in the '70s, Emma Roberts in 2007 and, most memorably, by Bonita Granville in four Warner Brothers pictures from 1938-39.

Nancy Drew ... Reporter (1939) co-stars Frankie Thomas as Nancy's sidekick, foil and romantic interest, pitting them against villains who've killed a rich woman in hopes of inheriting her fortune.
